Cherry Blossom Spine Tattoo

Fine Line

A spine isn't a straight line on a screen. I placed this stencil while the client stood naturally, then shifted the branch slightly between the flowers so it followed the real centre of the back. Larger blossoms sit at different heights, with small buds and loose petals between them. Dark brown and black lines keep the pale pink clear without making the branch harsh.

The tattoo took one three-hour session, and this is one of the healed examples in my portfolio. The settled photograph shows how the branch and Floral work sit after the skin has calmed. That slight change of direction is what keeps it looking like a growing branch instead of a row of flowers placed down a ruler.
