Start with the strongest photograph
Send the original file where possible. Social-media screenshots, tight crops and filters can remove the detail I need in eyes, skin, fur and small markings. Two or three useful photographs are usually enough. Tell me which expression, marking or object must stay. Add the body area, size in centimetres, a clear photo of that area and your choice of black and grey or colour.
I look first at the features that identify the person or animal. If one image does not show everything clearly, I can sometimes combine the strongest usable parts from several photographs. I won't invent missing detail, as guessing can change the subject you want to remember. A more complex composition made from several sources may belong under Custom Tattoo.
Protect the likeness and make it fit the body
Small Realism can work when the subject is simple and the source is sharp. Too many fine gaps or tiny features in a small area can merge as the tattoo settles. I may keep the eyes, expression or distinctive markings and remove a busy background or less important detail. If a larger size or simpler version would hold up better, I will explain why.
Placement matters as much as scale. Arms, shoulders, thighs and calves curve and move, so a flat photograph cannot be placed on each one in the same way. A straight daylight photo shows me the available shape. I can then check whether the main feature needs to be cropped, turned or moved slightly.
Real examples, price and next step
My Realism portfolio shows my finish and level of detail. The Gothic Woman portrait took 4 hours in one session. The Wolf and Lake shoulder piece took 8 hours over 2 sessions. Those are recorded times for those tattoos, not estimates for every portrait or animal project.
Realism sessions start from €150. One appointment can run from 2 to 5 hours, with larger work continuing over several sessions. The quote depends on size, usable detail, placement, colour and drawing work. The pricing guide explains those factors.
The first photo review is free, though consultation is required before I confirm the price, deposit and appointment. When the source image and placement details are ready, use the booking form. After the session, follow my aftercare guide for clean, calm healing.
