Tattoo Tipping Ireland

No. A tip is optional in my studio. The price I quote covers the agreed tattoo and the care I give during the appointment. Choosing not to add a tip doesn't change how I treat you, how carefully I work or whether I'll be happy to see you again.

If you're wondering whether to tip a tattoo artist in Ireland, my answer is simple: you don't need to calculate a percentage before coming to me. If you genuinely want to leave something after the session, I'll appreciate it. If your budget covers the tattoo and nothing more, you don't need to explain or feel awkward.

The same rule applies to small tattoos, long sessions and projects spread over several appointments. If you want to tip, you may do it after one session or when the project is finished. You may also choose not to tip.

How much should you tip a tattoo artist?

There is no percentage I ask clients to follow. If you want to tip, choose an amount that fits your budget. You can round the payment or choose another amount. Online calculators are not a rule in my studio.

Never stretch the budget, borrow money or reduce what you need for travel and aftercare just to tip. The agreed tattoo price comes first. My tattoo pricing guide explains what can affect the quote. Tips are separate and optional.

When is it better not to tip?

Don't use a tip to smooth over a concern or avoid an awkward conversation. If something worries you during the session, tell me straight away. This includes the position of the outline on your skin, your comfort or communication. I'll talk it through with you and fix what can still be changed.

What helps besides money

Money is not the only way to support my studio. Reviews, useful healed photos, referrals and new tattoo ideas can all help. None is expected.

If you leave a review

Write about what you actually experienced. Details about booking, communication, the studio and the appointment help more than a one-line compliment. You don't need to share the personal meaning of your tattoo. Keep that private if you prefer.

If you send a healed photo

Use daylight and keep the colours natural. Include one photo of the full tattoo and a closer photo if small details are hard to see. Make sure the whole tattoo is in focus. Hold the camera straight rather than at a sharp angle. Include some skin around the tattoo so I can see the edges. Do not use a filter. You can send the photo privately if you don't want it posted. I'll ask before sharing it.

If you recommend my work

Share my portfolio so the person can decide whether my style suits them. They can then send their own idea through the booking form. Do not promise the same price as another tattoo or that I can copy a design from my portfolio. I'll discuss the size, placement and price for the new idea separately.

If you come back with another idea

Send a new booking request. Mention where the earlier tattoo sits if the new design will be close to it. I can then check the space, size and how the two tattoos may sit together.

What matters more than a tip

Good preparation matters more than a tip. In the booking form, send the body area, approximate size, black or colour preference and useful example images. Mention nearby tattoos or scars so I can plan around them.

Arrive at the agreed time and ask if anything is unclear. Follow the aftercare instructions once you leave. That leaves more time during the appointment to discuss the tattoo and do the work carefully.
