People usually ask how long a tattoo will take because they need to plan travel, work or the rest of their day. I can give a useful range only after seeing the idea, body area and approximate size. Reserved appointment time is not uninterrupted needle time. Placement, stencil checks, sterile preparation, breaks, cleaning and aftercare sit inside the booking block.
Current service ranges run from 30 minutes for some Flash or Touch-Up bookings to a 6 to 7 hour full-day block. They describe booking formats, not promises that every tattoo will be finished in that time. Send the idea through booking for an individual estimate.

Read size as one part of the estimate
Small tattoos are not automatically fifteen-minute jobs. One simple symbol may be quick to tattoo, while tiny lettering, symmetry or curved placement can require more stencil work. Every appointment still needs safe preparation and a proper finish.
Medium tattoos are a broad group. Detail, colour, shading and the way the design wraps round the body matter more than the label. My custom tattoo service carries a 60 to 300 minute appointment range because designs differ widely.
Large pieces and sleeves need project planning. Coverage, style, background, existing tattoos and the way sections connect change the total. I don't promise that a sleeve will finish in one sitting.
Separate Flash timing from custom timing
Flash can be easier to estimate because the main design already exists. I usually reserve 30 to 180 minutes for my Flash tattoo service. Placement, size, colour and approved adjustments still move a booking within that range.
Custom work is made for the person and body area. Final scale, orientation and stencil position are confirmed in person. Current Cover-Up and Realism ranges begin at 120 minutes because both need a closer look, not because every piece takes the same number of hours.
Touch-Up appointments are for small adjustments to a healed tattoo. They are not a shortcut for estimating a new small tattoo. Two services can reserve similar time and still need different preparation.
Count the whole appointment, not only the needle
The visit starts with checking the design, placement and size. I prepare the station, examine the skin and position the stencil. I also ask you to look at it while standing or moving when that helps. Moving a stencil before tattooing is normal when it doesn't sit well on the body.
I start tattooing once you're happy with where the stencil sits and my station is set up. You can stop any time. Say the word if you need to move, get a drink of water or just sit up for a minute. The finish includes cleaning, dressing, suitable photographs and aftercare guidance.
Quoted time means the reserved studio block, not continuous machine time. Preparation and aftercare are part of the service.
Expect detail and placement to change the pace
Repeated lines, geometry, gradients, colour packing and realistic transitions need different working rhythms. Existing pigment changes the plan for a Cover-Up.
Placement affects access and stencil fit. Curves, joints and difficult positions can need more checking or breaks. Skin response also varies. I may move the remaining work to another appointment if the skin needs a rest or the tattoo reaches a safe stopping point.
Late changes can extend the visit or make the original booking unsuitable. Clear references and an agreed direction help me reserve a realistic block.
Use full-day sessions for the right project
My full-day tattoo session is a 360 to 420 minute studio block, including setup, placement, normal breaks and the finish. Tattooing runs for up to 5 hours, and the block doesn't guarantee that a large tattoo or sleeve finishes that day.

Send enough information for a useful estimate
I need the body area, approximate centimetre dimensions and clear references. Mention nearby tattoos and whether the request is new work, Flash, Realism, a Cover-Up or a healed Touch-Up. Include travel or date limits early.
Photographs should show the whole body area in ordinary light. Wider context reveals usable space and movement. References explain direction but do not prove how long another artist's tattoo took.
I confirm the final time after checking the design and placement. I'll tell you whether one appointment, a full-day block or several planned sessions make sense.
