Horse Portrait Forearm Tattoo

Realism

A horse portrait sits on the forearm, framed by lavender stems, a pink wild rose and a couple of small blue flowers. The warm ochre background lifts the pale coat, and the leather headcollar gives the face something solid to sit against. Most of this horse tattoo is soft grey shading, with the colour saved for the flowers and the light behind the head.

It took two sessions and eight hours in total. I worked the muzzle and the eye slowly, because that's where the whole likeness lives, and kept the coat lighter so the flowers hold their brightness. The photograph was taken straight after the second session, so you're looking at fresh skin rather than a healed result.
