Realism
This cover had two jobs: hide the faded calf tattoo and the ink left after laser treatment, while still letting the betta fish look light enough to move. The wide fins gave me room to place dark blue and purple over the old lines. Small pale gaps split the fins, so the fish didn't turn into one solid dark patch.
The work took one four-hour session. The gallery includes the stencil over the old tattoo and the result at the end. Colour alone doesn't hide old ink; the dark areas, available scale and fully settled skin do the work together. The Cover-Up page explains why I assess the old pigment and any laser history before I suggest a subject.
